Police Foundation Will Introduce Itself
The Simi Valley Police Foundation will make its official debut Thursday with a ceremony that will offer the first tours of the multimillion-dollar police station that is under construction.
Hosted by City Councilman Paul Miller, the foundation president and a former Simi police chief, the event will be held at 4 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. The event is free and open to the public.
Organized last year by citizens determined to keep Simi Valley the “safest little city in America,” the nonprofit foundation will work to raise money to supplement funds provided by the city for police protection and equipment. The funds raised by the group will also be used to add amenities to the new police headquarters.
After the ceremony, attendees are welcome to visit with officers involved in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program and the K-9 program, and may tour the frame of the new police station.
