City Offers Reward in Unsolved Slaying

Share

The City Council voted Tuesday to approve a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a Valley slaying.

The reward is offered for information that would lead to the conviction of those responsible for the shooting death of Patrick Perez of Burbank. Perez was found dead in Panorama City on Jan. 8.

The city reward is the second to be offered in the Perez case. Last week, Perez’s employer, Starbucks Coffee Co., announced a $10,000 reward.

Perez, 36, an employee at a Studio City Starbucks store, was found dead in a parking lot of an industrial strip mall on Keswick Street by employees of a nearby business. His car, a black Honda Accord, was found 40 feet away with its doors ajar.

“The police feel that this will help their investigation and Councilman [Joel] Wachs is ready to accommodate their request,” said Gail Koretz, an aide to Wachs, who wrote the motion requesting the reward after he was contacted by Van Nuys police.

Anyone with information may call the Los Angeles Police Department at (213) 485-2504.

The reward is in effect for 60 days and may or may not be renewed afterward, a council spokeswoman said.
