Council Approves New Fee for Paramedic Services

Share

The City Council this week approved a fee of up to $185 to cover the costs of providing advanced life-support treatment by county paramedics when they accompany a patient in a private ambulance to the hospital.

This cost is now absorbed by the Orange County Fire Authority, which provides fire protection and paramedic services to the city. The new fee will be collected by the city’s ambulance provider, and the Fire Authority will be reimbursed for its costs.

The Fire Authority will also help the city get bids from ambulance companies that want to serve the city; but the council will ultimately choose the company it wants.

The fee will go into effect when a new contract is signed early this summer with an ambulance services provider.
