Kids at Risk Could Get Special Program
A program that would provide special help for students with attendance and behavioral problems will be considered by the Tustin Unified school board Monday.
The Opportunities Program would be for students in seventh through ninth grades who are at risk of dropping out of school, officials said.
If approved, the program would begin this spring at a temporary site, A.G. Currie Middle School on Sycamore Avenue.
Troubled students would receive more individual attention, a “learning plan” for each student and quarterly reviews.
The goal is to have the students return to their regular schools after completing the one-year program.
“For students right on the edge, this will get them back on track,” said district spokesman Mark Eliot.
The Tustin Unified School District’s Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. Monday at 300 South C St.
