Steve Petrillo; Independent Insurance Broker

Steve Petrillo of Ventura, an independent insurance broker for more than three decades, died Friday after a long illness. He was 56.

Born July 19, 1941, in Jersey City, N.J., Petrillo served in the Navy from 1957 to 1963. He moved from West Covina to Ventura County 32 years ago.

Known for his sense of humor and his devotion to his family, Petrillo loved to travel. He was a past member of the Ventura Trade Club, and he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ventura.

He is survived by his wife, Anji, of Ventura; his son, Michael of Agoura Hills; his daughters, Denese Pitello of Agoura Hills, Debbie Miller of Lancaster, Connie DeChene of Ventura and Stephanie Petrillo of Ojai; his sisters, Kathi Maurer of Tucson, Barbara Conlee of Oxnard and Sandi Petrillo of Redlands; his father, Stephen Petrillo of Apple Valley; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 196 N. Ashwood Ave., in Ventura. Ted Mayr Funeral Home of Ventura is in charge of the arrangements.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to African Cradle Inc., 509 13th St., No. 5, Modesto, CA 95354.
