I began my life in Asia in 1926, making looms. In 1933, I shifted gears and opened an automotive department in my loom works. During World War II, I churned out military vehicles. I entered the U.S. market in 1957, and in 1986 began building cars here. Today, roughly 100,000 Americans work for me or in dealerships selling my wares. Who am I?

Last Week’s Trivia Answer

My origins can be traced back to men named Al Butz and William Sweatt and an 1885 contraption called the Damper Flapper, which was an early kind of thermostat for furnaces. Today, my business revolves around controls--for the home, for businesses and for space and aviation. My 57,500 employees in 95 countries are devoted to, among other things, increasing comfort, productivity and safety, and saving energy. I’m working on developing automated “smart” homes. My shares have appreciated more than 350% in the last 10 years, and you might find Winnie the Pooh in my “well.” Who am I?
