City Urged to Plan for Infrastructure Repairs
With home prices, employment and retail sales on the rise, the city is experiencing “very positive” times, according to a recent status report.
City Manager James L. Armstrong delivered the news this week at a special City Council meeting. He said the city is running smoothly and the budget is balanced; however, he cautioned that Fullerton’s infrastructure will need repairs.
“As the city gets older, we’re going to have to start investing more and more money on streets, curbs, gutters, parks and city buildings like the police facility and park structures,” Armstrong said.
The City Council will grapple with the issue as it considers refinancing a 1989 Redevelopment Agency bond issue. Doing so would give the city the ability to borrow about $15 million that could be used to speed up projects including expansions at the library and Police Department, he said.
