Board Names Acting Community College Chief
Harbor College President James Heinselman has been named interim chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District by the Board of Trustees.
Heinselman, a 25-year veteran of the district, will assume his duties Feb. 1. He was selected by the board to run the problem-plagued, nine-campus district while a search is conducted for a permanent chancellor.
The top post in the district became available last month when former Chancellor Bill Segura announced his departure after serving 16 months of a four-year contract.
In selecting Heinselman, board President Althea Baker said the panel took into account his “vast knowledge of our district” and demonstrated commitment to the colleges and students.
