UC Irvine 94, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 90--Caught in the organized chaos Cal Poly San Luis Obispo calls basketball, a bizarre play gave the Anteaters a Big West Conference victory before 2,050 in the Bren Center.

With 30 seconds to play and the score tied, 86-86, Cal Poly’s Jabbar Washington was called for a delay of game technical when he leaped across the baseline and deflected the ball in bounds.

UC Irvine was trying to run a play in which Adam Stetson would send an out-of-bounds pass to Jason Flowers, who would then inbound the ball.

Junior Bond, who scored 11 of his 14 points in the last 3:28, made the two free throws after the technical foul. The Mustangs (8-11, 1-6) then batted the ball away from Malachi Edmond, but he picked it up and drove for a layup and a 90-86 UC Irvine lead.

The Anteaters (7-10, 4-3) made four of six free throws in the last 17 seconds.
