SMALL FACES: With the hubbub over his indecent-act arrest having quieted, George Michael has finished two new songs that will be included in a greatest-hits collection due in October from Sony. The set fulfills part of the deal that was made to terminate his contract and allow him to sign with DreamWorks after he lost his suit against Sony two years ago. . . .

A live Clash album, culled from tapes that Joe Strummer found in storage, is due in November. To make way for it, the tribute album being made, with Ice Cube and Mack 10 (backed by Korn), No Doubt, Rancid and the Indigo Girls among those doing Clash songs, will be held until next year . . .

UB40, which had its biggest hit with a version of Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine,” returns to that pop balladeer’s catalog to record “Holly Holy” for “Labour of Love III,” its third album of cover songs, due Sept. 8. . . .
