Associated Press

Motorola Inc. is combining its vast communications businesses--including cellular phones, pagers and satellites--into one division to become more efficient, the company said in unveiling its promised turnaround plan. The plan will enable the company to shift its focus to selling packages of its products to consumers, phone companies, government and industrial customers, the company said. The announcement did not make clear whether operations that essentially are spread across the globe would be moved closer together. The company said the changes were a work in progress. Shares of Schaumburg, Ill.-based Motorola rose 6 cents to close at $52.25 on the NYSE.
