The district attorney’s office brought felony evading police and misdemeanor drunk driving charges against the man who is accused of leading police on a 2 1/2-hour low-speed chase carried live on some Los Angeles TV stations Wednesday.

Timothy Yip Matias of Commerce was followed by police from Hollywood to the San Gabriel Valley and back to Hancock Park, where he was arrested. Driving a white truck, he rarely approached 50 mph, and more often kept his speed under 20 mph. During his drive, Matias, 33, would slow down and speak to bystanders and police.
