Riverglen Project Gets Zoning Change

Share

Ten years in the making, a housing project finally will be built in the northern end of town.

City Council members this week approved a zoning change for the much-awaited Riverglen Luxury Home project, which will include 72 single-family houses on a 15.83-acre site at 2828 N. Bristol St. The vacant site, zoned for agricultural use, once was home to a housing complex that was demolished two years ago.

The new zoning is single-family residential.

Brock Homes plans to build a gated community with homes, ranging from 2,483 to 3,154 square feet. The developer said he has been planning the project since he first saw the site--bounded by Bristol, the Riverview Golf Course, a flood control channel, the Garden Grove Freeway and Hesperian Way--a decade ago.

City officials said the project will help improve the city’s image.

“Good things come to those who wait,” Mayor Miguel A. Pulido said. “This is something that’s going to improve the property value of every single property in Santa Ana.”
