Bohannon Wins Again in Hardcourt Tennis

Dave Bohannon of Garden Grove won his quarterfinal match in the USTA National Men’s 50 and 55 Hardcourt Championships Friday at Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.

Bohannon advanced in the 50 division with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over John Collins of Austin, Texas. Dan Bohannon lost to Hugh Thomson of Norcross, Ga., 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Bohannon brothers won in 50 doubles, beating Gary Brieden of Bukverde, Texas, and Collins, 6-3, 6-4. Also advancing were the teams of Brian Cheney, Chandler, Ariz., and Ray Robyn of Newport Beach and David Ahmed of Laguna Beach and Dennis Trout of Solvang.

In the 55 doubles, the teams of Dick Leach of Laguna Beach and Ken Stuart of Newport Beach and Bob Duessler of Newport Beach and Hank Leichtfried of Irvine advanced.
