Studying everything from biology to theater, low-income high school students are now in the midst of an intensive five-week residential program at Cal Lutheran University.

The goal of the Traditional Upward Bound Program is to prepare students for higher education through a number of academic classes and a taste of college living.

Now in its 18th year, the program has seen all its participants accepted by post-secondary schools, a record considered a mark of its success. Of those, 70% graduate, Cal Lutheran officials said.
