Smith Micro Software Inc.: The Aliso Viejo software developer lost $709,000, or 5 cents a share, in the second quarter compared with a net loss of $482,000, or 3 cents a share, for the same 1997 period. Revenue declined 35% to $1.7 million from $2.6 million. For the six months, the company said it lost $596,000, or 4 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $1.7 million, or 12 cents a share, for the same period in 1997. Revenue dropped 8% to $4.9 million from $5.3 million. The company said a sharp drop in analog modem sales, particularly to its largest customers, affected second-quarter revenue.
