ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Rainbow Technologies Inc.: The Irvine maker of computer-security products posted second-quarter net income of $2.9 million, or 36 cents a share, up 4% from the $2.8 million, or 36 cents a share, reported for the 1997 second quarter. Revenue increased 18% to $26.8 million from $22.8 million. For the six months ended June 30, Rainbow lost $150,000, or 2 cents a share, including a one-time $6.5 million charge related to the acquisition of Wyatt River Software. Net income for the first half of 1997 totaled $5.2 million, or 66 cents a share. Revenue increased 19% to $51.8 million from $43.6 million.
