GOOD TO GO

Korean mung bean cakes make a great main dish that’s almost meatless. They contain pork and beef, but in such tiny amounts that you aren’t aware of them. Nappa cabbage and bean sprouts are mixed in too, and the flavor is something like egg fu yung with mung bean batter replacing the eggs. These big, golden pancakes are made daily at the Snack Corner in the back of Hannam Chain Supermarket in Koreatown. They’re packed to go, so fresh they’re still warm.

Package of three mung bean cakes, $2.99, Hannam Chain Supermarket, 2740 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles (213) 382-2922.
