From Times Wire Reports

Six inmates, including four murderers, cut through a gate and escaped from Ohio’s only privately run prison, and police managed to capture one of the group before nightfall. The six broke out of the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center and apparently split up after escaping, police said in Youngstown. Officers searching nearby woods with dog teams found three prison uniforms the inmates had been wearing, a police spokesman said. The inmate who was captured, an armed robber, surrendered peacefully about 15 miles southeast of the prison after a resident called authorities, officer Steven Woodbury said. The prison, operated by Corrections Corp. of America, has been plagued with problems since it opened in May 1997. Two inmates have been killed and there have been at least 13 stabbings.
