Ingram Micro Buys Stake in Macrotron

Ingram Micro Inc. said Tuesday it has completed its $100-million acquisition of Tech Data Corp.’s majority stake in German computer products distributor Macrotron AG.

The transaction is expected to make Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro one of the top three computer distributors in Europe.

Ingram, the world’s largest distributor of computer products, said Macrotron President and Chief Executive Michael Kaack will remain in charge of the unit, which will be known as Ingram Macrotron.

Macrotron had 1997 sales of about $1.2 billion. Ingram had $16.58 billion in sales for the year ended Jan. 3.
