ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Kaynar Technologies Inc.: The Orange-based manufacturer of aircraft and defense components and tooling systems said net income for the second quarter totaled $4.4 million, or 49 cents a share, 52% higher than the $2.9 million, or 36 cents a share, reported a year ago. Sales increased 25% to $46.8 million from $37.3 million. First-half net income showed a gain of 69% to $8.6 million, or 97 cents a share, from $5.1 million, or 68 cents a share, for the first six months of 1997. Sales advanced 33% to $92.2 million from $69.3 million.
