Young Dancers Win Honors

Six girls from the Huntington Academy of Dance took home first-place honors in a national competition this week at the Disneyland Hotel.

The Showstoppers American Dance Championships national finals ran Friday through Tuesday at the hotel.

Sarah Calkins, 14, Cody Christopher, 13, Kristin Ornelas, 12, Megan Pulpher, 11, Susan Rush, 13, and Jasmine Schley, 13, all of Huntington Beach, also scored ninth overall in the senior tap dance category.

Cody and Megan won first place in the duet category, and Susan placed second in the solo tap dancing category.
