Netscape’s Chief Technology Officer to Leave

Bloomberg News

Netscape Communications Corp. Chief Technology Officer Eric Hahn will leave the Internet software company this week, just eight months after being named to the position, to pursue work with closely held companies as an investor. Hahn, 38, will not be replaced, a Netscape spokeswoman said. Instead, the company might name people to advisory roles within each product group, she said. Hahn joined the company in November 1995, when Mountain View-based Netscape bought closely held Collabra Software Inc., where he was founder and CEO. Collabra was the basis for Netscape’s groupware software, which allows employees at a company to share documents. Netscape shares fell $1.75 to close at $22.74 on Nasdaq amid a slump in computer stocks.
