Amgen Inc. has named Kathryn E. Falberg its chief financial officer.

Falberg previously has been corporate controller and chief accounting officer. She succeeded Robert S. Attiyeh, 63, who will serve as senior vice president for corporate development until June 30, when he will become a consultant to the company.

Falberg joined Amgen in 1995 as treasurer. Before working for Amgen, Falberg was chief financial officer at Applied Magnetics Corp. in Santa Barbara.

Amgen, headquartered in Thousand Oaks, is the world’s largest biotechnology company.

* Gary A. Porter of Porter & Co. CPAs in Ventura has been installed as president of the Community Assns. Institute, a national organization for condominium, cooperative and homeowner associations. He has been on the institute’s board of trustees since 1993 and is a founding member of the Channel Islands chapter.

Porter has provided accounting services to community associations since 1976.

* Randy Farber has been named chief executive officer of the Family Health Care Medical Group. He spent the last four years as regional director for American Oncology Resources and regional vice president for BMJ Medical Management.

Family Health Care Medical Group is a 34-physician specialty practice with offices in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks.

* Daniel J. Carobine has been named a partner in the Ventura law firm of Engle & Bride. A trial attorney, Carobine specializes in civil litigation, including personal injury, medical malpractice defense and business law.

Carobine is a 1979 graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law.
