Some Say Asia Will Color Avon’s Future

Some Wall Street analysts believe shares of Avon Products Inc. will fall because of Asian market turmoil and a decision by China to prohibit direct sellers from operating in that country. An analyst with Salomon Smith Barney lowered a second-quarter earnings estimate by 1 cent to 83 cents. But a Buckingham Research analyst kept his “buy” recommendation because of expected strong sales in the U.S., Latin America and Europe.
