Enrollment for the summer session at Irvine Valley College is up 19% from last year, according to initial figures from college officials.
The college enrolled 5,682 students for the summer session as of Monday, compared to 4,719 students last June 1.
Officials attribute the enrollment increase to more class offerings. This summer, Irvine Valley College is offering 391 class sections, up from 289 last summer.
“Our college is experiencing tremendous growth in student enrollment this summer due to an increased number of excellent academic, vocational, basic skills and technical courses taught by highly qualified and dedicated faculty members,” college President Raghu P. Mathur said.
The college is still accepting applications and registering students for its second sessions, which begin June 22 and July 6, and conclude Aug. 14.
