Man Killed After Confronting Car Burglar Suspects
A Panorama City man was found shot to death in his car early Saturday after a confrontation with suspected car burglars, police said.
Armando Zuniga, 21, heard noises outside his home in the 8700 block of Wakefield Avenue about 3:45 a.m. When he looked outside, he spotted what he thought were people tampering with cars on the block, said Los Angeles Police Det. Stephen Fisk.
Zuniga got into his Jeep and chased them about two blocks to the 14500 block of Osborne Street. Witnesses heard gunshots and a resident reported a car parked on the wrong side of the street with the lights on and the engine running, Fisk said. Police found Zuniga shot to death in his Jeep about 4 a.m.
“He took off after them and who knows what happened,” Fisk said. “He ended up dead a couple of blocks away.”
Investigators said they have no descriptions, but that there may be two assailants.
