Motorcyclist Dies After Missing Curve, Crashing Into Curb
An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday after he failed to negotiate a curve on a residential street and crashed his dirt bike into a curb, authorities said.
Michael Langham, 18, of Saugus, was not wearing a helmet or protective gear, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Clay Porlier.
Langham was riding west on Ranier Street at Eveningshade Avenue about 7 p.m. at a “high rate of speed,” Porlier said. He missed a curve and his motor bike skidded, throwing him.
Langham and the bike continued skidding along the asphalt. Langham struck a curb and then a chain-link fence, Porlier said.
Langham suffered massive head injuries and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The intersection was closed for about two hours following the crash, Porlier said.
