San Diego Flash Shuts Out the Zodiac

Nate Hetherington scored the game’s only goal in the 31st minute to lead the San Diego Flash to a 1-0 victory over the Zodiac in an A-League game Saturday night in front of 3,361 at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.

Hetherington was assisted on the goal by Antonio Robles, who kicked the ball from the far post. Hetherington put the ball past Zodiac goalkeeper Mike Littman, who had fallen.

With the exception of the one goal, Littman had an exceptional game. He stopped five shots, including two from point-blank range in the first half.

Both teams had eight shots on goal.

The Flash withstood a late second-half rally as goalkeeper Joe Cannon stopped four good shots in the second half to preserve the victory.

The Flash (6-4) moved within a point of the Pacific Division-leading Zodiac (7-5).
