Rights Groups Cite Assaults on Women

Dozens of ethnic Chinese women were attacked in rioting that swept Jakarta, the capital, last month, human rights groups reported. The organizations say they have documented more than 100 cases of rape and sexual assault during the rioting, in which mobs of looters and arsonists destroyed hundreds of Chinese-owned stores in anger over the country’s economic decline.
