Who Can Save When Taxes Are so High?

Share

I was incensed by the article “Working Together” [June 5], in which President Clinton and Republican congressional leaders “joined in a rare show of amity . . . to scold Americans for not saving more for their own retirement.”

The fact that close to half of our total paychecks is going toward taxes makes it very difficult to make ends meet, much less save for the future.

I am a 30-year-old college-educated worker who may or may not see a penny of all the money I am being forced to pay over my entire career into the Social Security system.
