Platinum Software Appoints 3 Vice Presidents

* Paul Mazzarella, Nancy Orr and Perry Tarnofsky have been named vice presidents at Platinum Software Corp. in Irvine. Mazzarella, corporate controller, joined the company in 1993 after serving as senior audit manager at Arthur Andersen. Orr, now vice president, human resources and administration, had been director. Tarnofsky had been director, general counsel, since joining Platinum in 1993. Before that, he was general counsel for Orchids Paper Products Co. in La Palma.

* Michael B. Brouthers has joined Hospitalists Inc. in Laguna Hills as chief executive and president. He succeeds Barbara N. Lubash, a partner with CrossPoint Ventures Inc. who had been serving as interim chief executive until a permanent replacement was found. Lubash will remain as a member of the board of directors. Brouthers most recently was the executive director of the Humana Inc. operation in Daytona Beach, Fla.

* Jane V. Hall has been named to a three-year term on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee. Hall is a professor of economics at Cal State Fullerton.

* Georgia French has been appointed managing director of retail sales for Waldron & Co. Inc., an Irvine brokerage and investment banking firm. Before joining Waldron, French was associate vice president of investments for Prudential Securities in Newport Beach and Charleston, S.C. In addition, Kevin Gillespie was named branch manager of Waldron’s Irvine retail office. Gillespie was formerly the senior account executive and branch manager for Schneider Securities in Irvine.

* Debbie Moser has joined Snyder Langston, an Irvine real estate development and construction services company, as safety manager. She was previously head of environmental safety and health for Hughes Ground Systems and Research Laboratories, and was safety and security coordinator at Big D Construction.

* Mark Nielsen has joined Primal Systems Inc. in Newport Beach as a principal and chairman of the board. He had been chairman and chief executive of Subscriber Computing Inc. in Irvine.

* Christine B. Fraschetti, vice president and banking officer of Citizens Business Bank, has transferred to the Fullerton office from the Riverside office. She joined Citizens in 1997 after being vice president and commercial loan officer with De Anza National Bank in Riverside for nine years.

* Ian McFadyen has been named operations manager for the Sports Club/Irvine. McFadyen had been membership director. He has been with the Sports Club Co. for 12 years.

* Benjamin R. Williams has been appointed vice president, information services, and chief information officer for St. Joseph Health System in Orange. He joins the company from Horizon/CMS Healthcare Corp. in Albuquerque, where he was chief information officer.

* William J. McCaffrey Jr. has been appointed chief financial officer of Newport Beach-based American Restaurant Group Inc.’s Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus division. McCaffrey will be responsible for the financial, administrative and real estate functions of the division. He was previously chief financial officer of American Restaurant Group. In addition, Ken A. Di Lillo has been named vice president-finance for American Restaurant Group, responsible for corporate financial functions.

* John O’Leary is the new chief executive of U.S. operations for Magic Software Enterprises in Irvine. He was formerly president of sales and marketing at Socket Communications in Newark, Calif. O’Leary was also with Digital Equipment Corp. for more than 18 years.

* Paul Pfeiffer has been named vice president and chief financial officer for Snyder Langston, an Irvine real estate and construction services firm. He was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer at the William Lyon Co. in Newport Beach for 10 years and a partner with Kenneth Leventhal & Co. in Newport Beach.

* Eric Fox has been named vice president of domestic sales for I-Flow Corp. in Lake Forest. Before joining the company, he was director of sales resources and inside sales at B. Braun McGaw Inc., formerly McGaw Inc.

* Shelly Renee Cofini has been named president of National Equity Exchange, a Newport Beach mortgage broker. She has 15 years of mortgage banking experience.

* Sam Samra has been appointed senior director of technology programs for the CDMA Development Group in Costa Mesa, a nonprofit trade association of wireless operators and equipment manufacturers. Samra is the former director of technology planning and development for Sprint PCS.

* Daniel R. Bent is the new president of Patrick Flack, Bent, Mutter & Partners Inc. in Los Alamitos, a fund-raising consulting and campaign management firm. He has more than 24 years’ experience in fund-raising and program management experience, including work for the American Red Cross and United Way. Joining him is wife Teresa Larsen Bent as senior vice president.

* Dave Ehlen has joined the Training Services Group of Integrated Cost Reduction Strategies, a national practice of the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP in Costa Mesa, as national director of training services. Ehlen was previously chief executive of Wilson Learning Worldwide in Minnesota.

* Shaun Ralton has been named territory sales manager for Survivair, a Santa Ana manufacturer of fire and industrial respiratory protection equipment. He was previously a district manager for Klein Tools in Chicago.

* Grace T. Mura has been appointed director of travel industry sales for the Newport Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau. She had been international tour sales manager for the bureau. Before that, Mura was supervisor of research and development and marketing for Nippon Travel Agency Pacific Inc.

* Arthur Lipper III, chairman of British Far East Holding Ltd., has been named chairman of Electropure Inc.’s advisory board. Laguna Hills-based Electropure designs and manufactures water treatment, filtering and monitoring equipment.
