7 Clerks Arrested in Sheriff’s Sting

An undercover sting of 65 east county stores has ended with the arrest of seven clerks at seven businesses for allegedly selling alcohol to minors, authorities said Saturday.

In the sting, the Sheriff’s Department sent minors ages 18 and 19 to stores in Moorpark and Thousand Oaks. The youths displayed driver’s licenses that showed them to be underage, authorities said.

Five adult clerks and two juveniles were arrested. The juveniles were cited and released, while the adults are scheduled to appear at the East County Courthouse on July 8.

A report will be provided to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for administrative proceedings against the licensed businesses.

Th clerks arrested were:

* Ernesto Murrillo at Albertson’s market on Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark.

* A 15-year-old at El Taco de Mexico on Reino Road in Thousand Oaks.

* Adel Abrahim at the North Oaks Market on Avenida de los Arboles in Thousand Oaks.

* A 17-year-old at Sav-On drugs on Agoura Road in Thousand Oaks.

* Victor Riad at Spirit Liquor on Hampshire Road in Thousand Oaks.

* Tony Thomas at Rite-Aid on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

* Jorge Estala at Toppers Pizza on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.
