The Camarillo-based medical diagnostics company Medical Analysis Systems has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of the product line of Dade Behring.
Medical Analysis Systems made its name in liquid stabilization technology for controls, calibrators and reagents used in hospital laboratories and clinical reference laboratories. This acquisition will give it a leadership position in the $1-billion worldwide controls and calibrators market.
Both companies are privately held. Dade Behring is based in Deerfield, Ill.
“We have been searching for an acquisition that will help us to implement our strategic goal to triple revenues within five years,” said Ivan E. Modrovich, medical analysis CEO and founder. “The acquisition brings Dade’s expertise and leadership position in the freeze-dried controls market to [Medical Analysis], along with an outstanding quality control data management system.”
Controls are generally serum or urine-based solutions that contain precisely measured amounts of particular constituents--for example, cholesterol--which are used to ensure that laboratory instruments are working properly.
