Microsemi Expects Lower 3rd-Quarter Results

Microsemi Corp. said Tuesday that third-quarter results will be about 20% below year-ago figures, partly because of slow bookings from the commercial space market and other markets.

The Santa Ana supplier of power semiconductors said the slowdown could continue at least through the first quarter of the next fiscal year.

Microsemi said third-quarter results won’t be completely comparable to year-ago figures because 1997 results included GMI, which was sold in December 1997, and the latest quarter results will include the acquisition of BKC from May 15 through June 28, the end of the quarter.

Microsemi earned $3 million, or 28 cents a diluted share, on sales of $42.6 million in the third quarter ended June 30, 1997.
