Washington Trip

Each workday I must browse the paper to obtain any pertinent articles related to the issue of recycling. On June 19 I put recycling on the back burner while I read the feature story regarding the inner-city middle school students who recently traveled to Washington.

I was moved to tears at the descriptions of the various lifestyles these students come from, and the preparations made for this trip. The adults involved in this tremendous effort are to be commended for their vision in allowing the “whey” (rather than the “cream of the crop”) to have a glimpse of what many others take for granted. I am confident this entire experience will have a lasting effect on each and every one of these students.
