Re editorial, “No Place for Hate Violence,” June 21.

The ugly specter of racism raises its monstrous head in our home community. At a time when we have seen an overall decrease in crime, to have these two racial attacks occur in our own backyards is shocking!

Not only is it a direct attack on the victims, our neighbors, but on the rest of us living here. The only action that will allow these occurrences to continue is for all decent people to do nothing.

The Midtown Ventura Community Council invites all our neighbors to join us at our next general membership meeting, on July 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 65 MacMillan Ave., Ventura. Discussion on support for our neighbors and help with organizing neighborhood watches will be available.

To all those possible perpetrators of racially motivated attacks on our neighbors . . . be aware. We of midtown Ventura will not put up with these attacks.
