Club Soccer Teams Win in Tournaments

Club soccer teams from Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano and Irvine won semifinals Friday to advance at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships.

In Salt Lake City, the under-20 girls’ team from the San Juan Capistrano-based Southern California Blues beat Utah, 4-0, to advance to Sunday’s final against Colorado.

In Albuquerque, the Mission Viejo-based West Coast Shamrocks defeated the Blues, 2-0, in an under-19 girls’ semifinal and the under-15 Blues team beat Club Colorado, 4-1. The Shamrocks face the Colorado Rush Nike and the U15 Blues meet the San Dieguito Surf in the finals today.

The Irvine Strikers boys’ under-13 team beat Sereno (Ariz.) Golden Eagles, 2-1, to advance to today’s championship game against the Santa Rosa United Heat.

The Central Valley Mercury defeated the Blues’ U18 girls’ team, 3-0, and the San Ramon Crunch beat the Blues’ U16 girls’ team, 1-0, in semifinals.
