Cable Failure Leaves Hundreds Powerless
About 270 Southern California Edison customers in south Oxnard were without power much of Sunday after the apparent failure of an underground cable.
The power went out at 5:03 a.m. Officials on Sunday afternoon said crews would probably not be able to restore it until between 10 p.m. and midnight.
The blackout initially affected about 3,000 customers, but most had their electricity back in a little more than an hour, said Edison spokesman Ernie Villegas.
The area most affected is bounded by Emerson Avenue, Eldorado Avenue, Greenbrook Drive and Pleasant Valley Road.
