2nd Amendment
Al Martinez (“The Children of Moses,” June 23) doesn’t get the point. The 2nd Amendment was placed in the Constitution by wise men who had seen enough of anarchy and pain hundreds of times worse than the pain caused by the present adult and juvenile criminals with guns.
Martinez attacks the defenders of the 2nd Amendment without realizing that if the 2nd Amendment goes, so will the other guaranteed liberties and America as we know it.

I have read all 27 words of the 2nd Amendment. Having checked my dictionary for the definition of “militia,” I have a simple, elegant solution to the current and ongoing debate concerning the horrors of violence caused by guns: repeal the 2nd Amendment.
