Antinuclear Groups to Call for Nestle Boycott

Share

A call for a boycott of candy made by Nestle is expected today from several Southern California antinuclear organizations to protest a Nestle Nuclear Chocolate bar associated with the Walt Disney Co. film “Armageddon.” Jerry Rubin of the Los Angeles chapter of Alliance for Survival is spearheading the effort, after failing to secure a meeting with Nestle officials. Rubin says the product “desensitizes people to the real nuclear danger.” Sheldon Plotkin of the Southern California Federation of Scientists is expected to join Rubin. Glendale-based Nestle Food Co., a unit of the Swiss company, maintains it “is in no way attempting to offend or desensitize the [nuclear] issue.”
