Sex-Abuse Case Jars Christian Sect

Ten men and boys from two Hutterite farming colonies in Alberta have been charged with committing a total of 34 sex offenses over a 10-year period, ranging from incest to fondling the genitals of young girls. The six members of the communal Christian sect facing the most serious charges are awaiting trial. On Friday, four young men, ranging in age from 17 to 22, were placed on probation and ordered to perform community service after pleading guilty to fondling 6- and 7-year-old girls several years ago.
