Elizabeth Taylor Hospitalized After Falling, Hitting Head

Actress Elizabeth Taylor was hospitalized over the weekend after falling in her home and hitting her head, her publicist said Sunday.

She was hurt Friday, hours before she was to receive guests at her Bel-Air home to celebrate her 66th birthday. Taylor was kneeling to get something from her night stand, stood up too quickly and fell over backward, said her publicist, Shirine Coburn.

X-rays determined that Taylor was not seriously hurt. Nevertheless, the actress decided to rest for a day or two at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as a precautionary measure, Coburn said Sunday.

“She’s a little bit cautious after everything that has happened to her, and she feels more comfortable there,” Coburn said.

Taylor had brain surgery last year to remove a benign, golfball-sized tumor. In recent years, she also has had both hips replaced and undergone numerous other operations.
