Council to Discuss Golf Course Proposals

Share

Council members will consider tonight whether to pursue two proposals to develop a 369-acre golf course on city land bordering San Clemente.

Proposals from Golf One Group Inc. and The Koll Co. were unsolicited, although the city has planned to lease the property and build an 18-hole golf course. Revenue could reach $250,000 to $500,000 annually, a city report says. This would be the city’s third golf course, and the county’s 34th public course.

The course would be developed on the southern portion of a 700-acre area formerly owned by Glendale Federal. The rest of the property, which is divided by a ridgeline, would remain undeveloped. The greens would begin at the end of Camino Las Ramblas and stretch to the city limit.
