My Favorite Weekend

Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who released his second solo album, “Undiscovered Soul,” Tuesday.

Jammin’: On Fridays, I’ve been recording at the Voodoo Lounge while my wife, Heather Locklear, is doing “Melrose Place.” But after work, we like to go out and cut loose at the House of Blues. I’m a big blues fan and I love to watch bands there. I like to get up on stage and jam and we’ll have some spirits and some fun.

Downtime: Fridays are always late nights, so Saturdays are like recuperation. I get up around noon, grab my wife and my baby, Ava Elizabeth, and go to the beach. We just hang out, baby-watch and people-watch all afternoon.

At home: Saturday nights are more mellow. We like to go out for a great dinner, usually either sushi or Italian. Ginza Sushi-Ko is always good. Then we have friends over. We have some drinks, shoot some pool and listen to music. I just bought the Muddy Waters boxed set, which is great.

Fan fare: Sundays are seasonal sports day. I’m a big football and basketball fan. We have a satellite and a TV with a 70-inch screen in the center of the living room. People drop by all day and we do beers and hors d’oeuvres. I don’t cook myself. (I’m pretty undomesticated--I think it’s all those years on the road). But my wife cooks and sometimes people come over and cook.

Show time: Sunday nights we watch movies. My wife is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, so we get all the current movies on video.
