President Clinton’s co-defendant in Paula Corbin Jones’ sexual harassment lawsuit asked the court to dismiss the case Wednesday, contending that Jones had failed to demonstrate a conspiracy to deprive her of her constitutional rights.

Danny Ferguson, an Arkansas state trooper, urged a federal judge to release him as a co-defendant, even if a similar request by Clinton is denied.

Jones contends that Clinton propositioned her during a convention at a Little Rock hotel in 1991 when he was governor and she was a state employee. Clinton has adamantly denied her accusations.

Jones also claims that Ferguson, who was Clinton’s state police bodyguard, conspired with Clinton to deprive her of her constitutional rights by escorting her to the room where the incident allegedly occurred.

Jones’ case is scheduled for trial in Little Rock on May 27.

Ferguson’s motion, which was presented Wednesday, includes several pages of Clinton’s deposition.
