From Times Wire Reports

President Clinton and Vice President Al Gore called on Congress to give the Food and Drug Administration authority to prevent foreign fruits and vegetables produced in unsanitary conditions from entering the United States. “American families want to have confidence in the food that they put on their children’s plates,” Gore said.
