SWIMMING AND DIVING

* Foothill at Irvine, 3 today: An early look at two of the county’s top swim teams. The Irvine boys’ team will be bolstered by some strong freshmen, but Foothill counters with such veterans as Robby Arroyo (50 and 100 freestyle) and James Thornton (200 and 500 freestyles).

* Capistrano Valley relay finals, Saddleback College, 9 a.m. Saturday: This girls-only meet will feature some of the county’s top swimmers, including Olympian Amanda Beard from Irvine.
