* Marina at Capistrano Valley, 3 today: The Marina girls’ team brings its strong group of pole vaulters, led by Katy Rorem, Michelle McCaslin and Caroline Rebello, who each have cleared 11-0 or better. The Cougars have one of the county’s best sprinters in Tiffany Hogan, who holds the school record in the 100, 200 and 400 meters.

* Earl Engman Relays at Santa Ana College, 9 a.m. Saturday: Some the county’s better boys’ and girls’ teams will be represented at this meet, including ones from Edison, Woodbridge and Santa Ana Valley. Woodbridge sprinter Myron Bownes and Edison’s John Maas are among the county’s fastest.
