The Wildlife Waystation will team up with the Education Station on Saturday for a special event celebrating the release of a children’s CD to help raise money for the animal sanctuary.

The event, which is free to the public, will include music, comedy and appearances by several Waystation inhabitants.

The CD, “Wild for Wildlife,” is a compilation of animal-themed songs that includes narration by Martine Colette, the founder and director of the Wildlife Waystation. Local musician Tim Arem, a.k.a. T-Bone, compiled the CD.

Profits will benefit the rescue and sanctuary programs at the Waystation, which was established in the Angeles National Forest in 1976. The nonprofit center currently provides shelter and medical care to more than 1,000 animals, from mountain lions to chimpanzees.

“With the aid of fund-raising projects such as ‘Wild for Wildlife,’ and the help of people who care, the Waystation will continue to serve and be there for animals in need,” Colette said.

The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. An animal show is scheduled for 2 p.m. It will be held at the Education Station, a Northridge retail store at 10155 Balboa Blvd. that specializes in educational materials for teachers and parents.
